Dear Utah,

Mine is a story of post separation abuse. I found out he had been cheating on me with different women for almost 20 years. He was never around and home with our two kids. When I found out and began to unpack how much emotional, physiological and finical abuse had taken place - I left to be with family - he all the sudden cared so deeply about the children, he has been filing motions to get more/take custody ever since. While also simultaneously withholding all financial support and intentionally not paying his court ordered expenses for the children. I've had so many dark moments wishing to God he had hit me, because then maybe the courts or someone would actually care.
